A national ROMED2/ROMACT training took place in Sofia, Bulgaria from 11 to 13 of February, 2014. The training was entitled “Capacity Building for Implementation of Approaches and Methods in the work of Mediators at Community Level: Civil Participation and Community Empowerment”. A total of 26 people took part in the event, including health and labor mediators, and members of the Community Action Groups established under the ROMED2/ROMACT Programs in six Bulgarian municipalities – Byala Slatina, Shumen, Varna, Sliven, Maglizh and Tundja.
During the training the new members of the national team of ROMED/ROMACT Bulgaria were introduced. ROMED2/ROMACT trainers Milenko Milenkov made a teambuilding and leadership development presentation, while Dora Petkova talked about community building and development. Particularly interesting for the participants were the discussions on “How to mobilize the local community?” and “How to work with local authorities?”. Different training methods such as work in small groups and role playing were used. The training ended with the planning of activities and visits in the selected municipalities for the period February – May, 2014.
